Sanyukt Kisan Morcha has made a big announcement about this. In fact, SKM (United Kisan Morcha) is preparing to take out a tractor parade across India on the occasion of Republic Day (26 January, 2024). This parade will be taken out on Republic Day in about 500 districts of India. The SKM has said that the tractor parade will be held only after the conclusion of the formal Republic Day parade in the national capital. It will include a large number of farmers.

What did SKM appeal to the public?

The United Kisan Morcha has issued a statement saying that SKM will organise tractor parades at district level in all states and union territories on January 26, 2024. This parade will be taken out in about 500 districts. Also, SKM has appealed to farmers to join a large number of parades. During this time, the farmers who join the tractor parade will wave the flags of the constituent organisations as well as the national flag. In this parade, farmers will resolve to protect the principles of democracy, federalism, secularism and socialism inherent in the Constitution of India.

Skm's public awareness campaign will run from 10 to 20 January

The units of SKM will start the Jan Jagran Abhiyan from 10 to 20 January in 20 states and through the distribution of leaflets. It states that the purpose of the public campaign is to highlight the corporate supporters of the central government. The SKM has asked farmers to make the campaign and parade successful to end corporate-communal alliances that exploit and divide people through communal and casteist polarisation. Until the central government fulfils all the demands, it has been said to continue this struggle.

This movement of farmers will start from January 22 and will run till 26 January. A strike of farmers in Punjab had just ended, and now the farmers are planning to strike once again. Now if we look at the reason for this, then this is the "failure" of the state government in introducing this new agricultural policy. Farmers will protest against the offices of Deputy Commissioners from 22 January to 26 January.

11 -member committee constituted to draft agricultural policy

Let us explain you that in January last year, the then Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal formed an 11 -member committee to draft the new agricultural policy by 31 March 2023. According to various media agencies, a member of this committee said on the condition of anonymity that the draft of the policy has not been prepared at the moment. Some members of the committee went abroad, due to which the discussion on the policy is quite pending. Soon, a meeting will be held to finalise it.

AAP government will announce soon

Regarding the delay in the policy, the spokesperson said that after 2000 there was no agricultural policy and the AAP government had started work on the policy soon after coming to power. He says that the policy will be announced soon.

BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) had already given an ultimatum

In fact, BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) has already given an ultimatum to the government to announce the policy or face opposition in the past. Union General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan says that we have already submitted a memorandum regarding the pro -peasant steps to be included in the policy. But it seems that the government is delaying it under the pressure of corporations. At the same time, BKU (Kadian) national spokesperson Ravneet Brar says that the government had promised MSP and new agricultural policy on all crops to increase the income of farmers. However, nothing has been done even after about 2 years of coming to power.

United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a Bharat Bandh on 16 February amid the farmers' Delhi Chalo march. SKM has requested other farmer organizations and farmers to join this Bharat Bandh. The Bharat Bandh called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and other trade unions will continue from 6 am to 4 pm on February 16.

Till what time will India remain closed?

The Bharat Bandh called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and other trade unions will continue from 6 am to 4 pm on February 16. Apart from this, farmers nationwide will block the main roads from 12 noon to 4 pm. During this time, especially in Punjab, most state and national highways will be completely closed for four hours on Friday.

What are the demands of the farmers?

In fact, the demands for which the farmers are calling for Bharat Bandh include pension for farmers, MSP for crops, implementation of the old pension scheme, and withdrawal of amendments in labor laws, among other demands. For this reason, Bharat Bandh has been called. At the same time, not privatizing PSUs, not contracting the workforce, guaranteeing employment, etc. are included in the farmers' demands.

Which services will be affected during Bharat Bandh?

During Bharat Bandh, transport, agricultural activities, MNREGA rural works, private offices, shops and rural industrial and service sector institutions will remain closed. However, emergency services like operation of ambulances, marriages, medical shops, students going to appear for board exams etc. will not be stopped during the strike.
